This month, I’m creating a series of “Rev” episodes focusing on how to make more time for the things that matter in 2019. This third part is all about being Ok with “just OK” (for now). Lately I’ve seen a lot of Mamas out there sharing messages like “lower your expectations” and “be ok with being behind” and I wanted to echo these sentiments because they are things I am constantly reminding myself as a Type A person. It’s something I struggle with and I realize that in order to focus on what truly matters, I have to be ok with the non-priority items to be mediocre. I have to be ok with done over perfect. A few take-aways I want to share:
- Understand that your best (your energy, your patience, you productivity) is going to be different from day to day
- Encourage patience, productivity and energy by lowering your standards – there are certain things in your life that don’t have to meet the highest of expectations like your kids’ bed being made perfectly
- Sometimes the routine falls to the wayside, and that’s Ok – what can you let go of that isn’t your highest priority?
